Our Stories

The Raley’s Companies is a private, family-owned and purpose-driven retail company headquartered in West Sacramento, CA. Since our founding in 1935, our store operations have grown to include more than 235 locations across seven states and four Tribal Nations under nine well-known banners: Raley’s, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods, Raley’s O-N-E Market, Bashas’, Bashas’ Diné, Food City, AJ’s Fine Foods and Eddie’s Country Store.

Raley's in 1935

1935

Tom Raley, a born innovator, opened his first store in Placerville, CA, in 1935 with grand ambitions of transforming the grocery business.

Bel Air in 1992

1992

We expanded our presence in the Sacramento region with the purchase of Bel Air Markets, originally founded in 1955 by the Wong family.

Nob Hill Foods in 1998

1998

We then moved into the Bay Area and Central Coast regions with the acquisition of the Nob Hill Foods chain of stores from the Bonfante family.

Scolari's in 2018

We acquired and converted six Scolari’s Food & Drug Company locations in Nevada from the Scolari family.

Bashas' In 2021

2021

Focused on growth through the acquisition of like-minded businesses, The Raley’s Companies purchased the Bashas’ Family of Stores, Apium Logistics, Fieldera and FieldTRUE.
